With several companies competing for business, spending some time to search for car insurance rates can offer financial benefits. An individual can utilize different mediums for getting insurance estimates, such as insurance agents, brokers and company outlets. However, with the advent of technology, the Internet has evolved as the best tool for searching for the best car insurance estimate.

It requires a little more than desire and basic knowledge of using the Internet to search for a car insurance estimate online. You can use a search engine to get a list of websites providing car insurance estimates. An individual is required to fill in some personal details, such as information pertaining to the driver, the vehicle, previous policy, route of driving and zip code. The insurance company uses this information to calculate the estimate. Comparing estimates from several insurance companies helps one buy the most suitable policy.
Comparing car insurance estimates can be a little confusing for a layman. Here are some of the factors that one should consider for comparing car insurance estimates:

Coverage: Most states have imposed minimum limits for car insurance. For instance, in the state of Oregon, law requires liability coverage of at least $50,000 per accident, along with $10,000 as property damage cover. Thus, one has to ascertain that the policy cover meets the legal standards.insurance estimate. You have to pay a minimum price for buying third-party insurance alone. The rates will surge with an increase in the extent of cover, such as fire and theft cover or a comprehensive policy.Deductibles: This is the amount that the policyholder has to pay before the insurance company starts paying for the claim. Deductibles are inversely proportional to the premium amount. So, if you want to pay a lower premium, buy an insurance policy with higher deductibles.Insurance company: Research the financial soundness of the insurance company. The biggest disadvantage of searching for car insurance estimates online is that the credibility of the insurance provider is not certain. Look through the websites of larger and well established insurance companies for reliable estimates.

What is Forex?

FOREX - the foreign exchange market or currency market or Forex is the market where one currency is traded for another. It is one of the largest markets in the world.

Some of the participants in this market are simply seeking to exchange a foreign currency for their own, like multinational corporations which must pay wages and other expenses in different nations than they sell products in. However, a large part of the market is made up of currency traders, who speculate on movements in exchange rates, much like others would speculate on movements of stock prices. Currency traders try to take advantage of even small fluctuations in exchange rates.
In the foreign exchange market there is little or no 'inside information'. Exchange rate fluctuations are usually caused by actual monetary flows as well as anticipations on global macroeconomic conditions. Significant news is released publicly so, at least in theory, everyone in the world receives the same news at the same time.
Currencies are traded against one another. Each pair of currencies thus constitutes an individual product and is traditionally noted XXX/YYY, where YYY is the ISO 4217 international three-letter code of the currency into which the price of one unit of XXX currency is expressed. For instance, EUR/USD is the price of the euro expressed in US dollars, as in 1 euro = 1.2045 dollar.
Unlike stocks and futures exchange, foreign exchange is indeed an interbank, over-the-counter (OTC) market which means there is no single universal exchange for specific currency pair. The foreign exchange market operates 24 hours per day throughout the week between individuals with forex brokers, brokers with banks, and banks with banks. If the European session is ended the Asian session or US session will start, so all world currencies can be continually in trade. Traders can react to news when it breaks, rather than waiting for the market to open, as is the case with most other markets.
Average daily international foreign exchange trading volume was $1.9 trillion in April 2004 according to the BIS study.
Like any market there is a bid/offer spread (difference between buying price and selling price). On major currency crosses, the difference between the price at which a market maker will sell ("ask", or "offer") to a wholesale customer and the price at which the same market-maker will buy ("bid") from the same wholesale customer is minimal, usually only 1 or 2 pips. In the EUR/USD price of 1.4238 a pip would be the '8' at the end. So the bid/ask quote of EUR/USD might be 1.4238/1.4239.
This, of course, does not apply to retail customers. Most individual currency speculators will trade using a broker which will typically have a spread marked up to say 3-20 pips (so in our example 1.4237/1.4239 or 1.423/1.425). The broker will give their clients often huge amounts of margin, thereby facilitating clients spending more money on the bid/ask spread. The brokers are not regulated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since they do not sell securities), so they are not bound by the same margin limits as stock brokerages. They do not typically charge margin interest, however since currency trades must be settled in 2 days, they will "resettle" open positions (again collecting the bid/ask spread).
Individual currency speculators can work during the day and trade in the evenings, taking advantage of the market's 24 hours long trading day.

Forex History - The Evolution OF FX Markets

The Gold Exchange and the Bretton Woods Agreement

In 1967, a Chicago bank refused a college professor by the name of Milton Friedman a loan in pound sterling because he had intended to use the funds to short the British currency. Friedman, who had perceived sterling to be priced too high against the dollar, wanted to sell the currency, then later buy it back to repay the bank after the currency declined, thus pocketing a quick profit. The bank’s refusal to grant the loan was due to the Bretton Woods Agreement, established twenty years earlier, which fixed national currencies against the dollar, and set the dollar at a rate of $35 per ounce of gold. The Bretton Woods Agreement, set up in 1944, aimed at installing international monetary stability by preventing money from fleeing across nations, and restricting speculation in the world currencies. Prior to the Agreement, the gold exchange standard--prevailing between 1876 and World War I--dominated the international economic system. Under the gold exchange, currencies gained a new phase of stability as they were backed by the price of gold. It abolished the age-old practice used by kings and rulers of arbitrarily debasing money and triggering inflation. But the gold exchange standard didn’t lack faults. As an economy strengthened, it would import heavily from abroad until it ran down its gold reserves required to back its money; consequently, the money supply would shrink, interest rates rose and economic activity slowed to the extent of recession. Ultimately, prices of goods had hit bottom, appearing attractive to other nations, who would rush into buying sprees that injected the economy with gold until it increased its money supply, and drive down interest rates and recreate wealth into the economy. Such boom-bust patterns prevailed throughout the gold standard until the outbreak of World War I interrupted trade flows and the free movement of gold. After the Wars, the Bretton Woods Agreement was founded, where participating countries agreed to try and maintain the value of their currency with a narrow margin against the dollar and a corresponding rate of gold as needed. Countries were prohibited from devaluing their currencies to their trade advantage and were only allowed to do so for devaluations of less than 10%. Into the 1950s, the ever-expanding volume of international trade led to massive movements of capital generated by post-war construction. That destabilized foreign exchange rates as setup in Bretton Woods. The Agreement was finally abandoned in 1971, and the US dollar would no longer be convertible into gold. By 1973, currencies of major industrialized nations floated more freely, as they were controlled mainly by the forces of supply and demand. Prices were floated daily, with volumes, speed and price volatility all increasing throughout the 1970s, giving rise to new financial instruments, market deregulation and trade liberalization. In the 1980s, cross-border capital movements accelerated with the advent of computers and technology, extending market continuum through Asian, European and American time zones. Many of these Nepalese Buddhas statues are Sakyamuni Buddha , sage of the Shakya clan. These are often very detailed carvings with intricate robes, auspicious symbols, dragons, & inscribed at the base with the prayer mantra of Chenzrig . One of the discoverers of the structure of DNA, Francis Crick, credited What Is Life? as a theoretical description, before the actual discovery of the structure of DNA (the existence of the molecule had been known for nearly 2 decades, but its role in reproduction and its helical shape had not even been guessed at this time), of how genetic storage would work and a source for inspiration for the initial research.

In the book, Schrödinger introduced the idea of an "aperiodic crystal" that contained genetic information in its configuration of covalent chemical bonds. In the 1950s, this idea stimulated enthusiasm for discovering the genetic molecule. In retrospect, it could be seen as having been a well-reasoned theoretical prediction of what biologists should have been looking for during their search for the genetic material.

Yamaha Motor Company

Yamaha Hatsudōki Kabushiki-gaisha?) (TYO: 7272), a Japanese motorized vehicle-producing company (whose HQ is at 2500 Shingai, Iwata, Shizuoka), is part of the Yamaha Corporation. After expanding Yamaha Corporation into the world's biggest piano maker, then Yamaha CEO Genichi Kawakami took Yamaha into the field of motorized vehicles on July 1, 1955. The company's intensive research into metal alloys for use in acoustic pianos had given Yamaha wide knowledge of the making of lightweight, yet sturdy and reliable metal constructions. This knowledge was easily applied to the making of metal frames and motor parts for motorcycles. Yamaha Motor is the world's second largest producer of motorcycles (after Honda)[citation needed]. It also produces many other motorized vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, outboard motors, and personal watercraft.
The Yamaha corporate logo is comprised of three tuning forks placed on top of each other in a triangular pattern.
In 2000, Toyota and Yamaha Corporation made a capital alliance where Toyota paid Yamaha Corporation 10.5 billion yen for a 5 per cent share in Yamaha Motor Company while Yamaha and Yamaha Motor each bought 500,000 shares of Toyota stock in return.

LIFE INSURANCE: LEARN ABOUT LIFE INSURANCE

If you have dependents or other people with whom you share your life, life insurance can play a vital and valuable role at virtually every stage of your life. The I.I.I. can help you make smart choices when buying life insurance: how much to buy; which type of product to buy; and which one of the hundreds of life insurance companies to choose.

Q: My dad is in a nursing home and I need to change the ownership on his life insurance policies. My mom has a POA for him. How do I go about doing this?
A: Your mother should contact the life insurance company and request the ownership change. She will need to provide a copy of the Power of Attorney. It would be advisable to contact the company through an agent, broker or financial professional, so that you are aware of all consequences of the ownership change.

Life insurance or life assurance is a contract between the policy owner and the insurer, where the insurer agrees to pay a sum of money upon the occurrence of the insured individual's or individuals' death or other event, such as terminal illness or critical illness. In return, the policy owner agrees to pay a stipulated amount called a premium at regular intervals or in lump sums. There may be designs in some countries where bills and death expenses plus catering for after funeral expenses should be included in Policy Premium. In the United States, the predominant form simply specifies a lump sum to be paid on the insured's demise.
As with most insurance policies, life insurance is a contract between the insurer and the policy owner whereby a benefit is paid to the designated beneficiaries if an insured event occurs which is covered by the policy.
The value for the policyholder is derived, not from an actual claim event, rather it is the value derived from the 'peace of mind' experienced by the policyholder, due to the negating of adverse financial consequences caused by the death of the Life Assured.
To be a life policy the insured event must be based upon the lives of the people named in the policy.
Insured events that may be covered include:
Serious illness
Life policies are legal contracts and the terms of the contract describe the limitations of the insured events. Specific exclusions are often written into the contract to limit the liability of the insurer; for example claims relating to suicide, fraud, war, riot and civil commotion.
Life-based contracts tend to fall into two major categories:
Protection policies - designed to provide a benefit in the event of specified event, typically a lump sum payment. A common form of this design is term insurance.
Investment policies - where the main objective is to facilitate the growth of capital by regular or single premiums. Common forms (in the US anyway) are whole life, universal life and variable life policies.
Parties to contract
There is a difference between the insured and the policy owner (policy holder), although the owner and the insured are often the same person. For example, if Joe buys a policy on his own life, he is both the owner and the insured. But if Jane, his wife, buys a policy on Joe's life, she is the owner and he is the insured. The policy owner is the guarantee and he or she will be the person who will pay for the policy. The insured is a participant in the contract, but not necessarily a party to it.
The beneficiary receives policy proceeds upon the insured's death. The owner designates the beneficiary, but the beneficiary is not a party to the policy. The owner can change the beneficiary unless the policy has an irrevocable beneficiary designation. With an irrevocable beneficiary, that beneficiary must agree to any beneficiary changes, policy assignments, or cash value borrowing.
In cases where the policy owner is not the insured (also referred to as the celui qui vit or CQV), insurance companies have sought to limit policy purchases to those with an "insurable interest" in the CQV. For life insurance policies, close family members and business partners will usually be found to have an insurable interest. The "insurable interest" requirement usually demonstrates that the purchaser will actually suffer some kind of loss if the CQV dies. Such a requirement prevents people from benefiting from the purchase of purely speculative policies on people they expect to die. With no insurable interest requirement, the risk that a purchaser would murder the CQV for insurance proceeds would be great. In at least one case, an insurance company which sold a policy to a purchaser with no insurable interest (who later murdered the CQV for the proceeds), was found liable in court for contributing to the wrongful death of the victim (Liberty National Life v. Weldon, 267 Ala.171 (1957)).

Contract terms

Special provisions may apply, such as suicide clauses wherein the policy becomes null if the insured commits suicide within a specified time (usually two years after the purchase date; some states provide a statutory one-year suicide clause). Any misrepresentations by the insured on the application is also grounds for nullification. Most US states specify that the contestability period cannot be longer than two years; only if the insured dies within this period will the insurer have a legal right to contest the claim on the basis of misrepresentation and request additional information before deciding to pay or deny the claim.
The face amount on the policy is the initial amount that the policy will pay at the death of the insured or when the policy matures, although the actual death benefit can provide for greater or lesser than the face amount. The policy matures when the insured dies or reaches a specified age (such as 100 years old).
Costs, insurability, and underwriting
The insurer (the life insurance company) calculates the policy prices with intent to fund claims to be paid and administrative costs, and to make a profit. The cost of insurance is determined using mortality tables calculated by actuaries. Actuaries are professionals who employ actuarial science, which is based in mathematics (primarily probability and statistics). Mortality tables are statistically-based tables showing expected annual mortality rates. It is possible to derive life expectancy estimates from these mortality assumptions. Such estimates can be important in taxation regulation.[1] [2]
The three main variables in a mortality table have been age, gender, and use of tobacco. More recently in the US, preferred class specific tables were introduced. The mortality tables provide a baseline for the cost of insurance. In practice, these mortality tables are used in conjunction with the health and family history of the individual applying for a policy in order to determine premiums and insurability. Mortality tables currently in use by life insurance companies in the United States are individually modified by each company using pooled industry experience studies as a starting point. In the 1980s and 90's the SOA 1975-80 Basic Select & Ultimate tables were the typical reference points, while the 2001 VBT and 2001 CSO tables were published more recently. The newer tables include separate mortality tables for smokers and non-smokers and the CSO tables include separate tables for preferred classes. [3]
Recent US select mortality tables predict that roughly 0.35 in 1,000 non-smoking males aged 25 will die during the first year of coverage after underwriting.[2] Mortality approximately doubles for every extra ten years of age so that the mortality rate in the first year for underwritten non-smoking men is about 2.5 in 1,000 people at age 65.[3] Compare this with the US population male mortality rates of 1.3 per 1,000 at age 25 and 19.3 at age 65 (without regard to health or smoking status).[4]
The mortality of underwritten persons rises much more quickly than the general population. At the end of 10 years the mortality of that 25 year-old, non-smoking male is 0.66/1000/year. Consequently, in a group of one thousand 25 year old males with a $100,000 policy, all of average health, a life insurance company would have to collect approximately $50 a year from each of a large group to cover the relatively few expected claims. (0.35 to 0.66 expected deaths in each year x $100,000 payout per death = $35 per policy). Administrative and sales commissions need to be accounted for in order for this to make business sense. A 10 year policy for a 25 year old non-smoking male person with preferred medical history may get offers as low as $90 per year for a $100,000 policy in the competitive US life insurance market.
The insurance company receives the premiums from the policy owner and invests them to create a pool of money from which it can pay claims and finance the insurance company's operations. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of the money that insurance companies make comes directly from premiums paid, as money gained through investment of premiums can never, in even the most ideal market conditions, vest enough money per year to pay out claims.[citation needed] Rates charged for life insurance increase with the insurer's age because, statistically, people are more likely to die as they get older.
Given that adverse selection can have a negative impact on the insurer's financial situation, the insurer investigates each proposed insured individual unless the policy is below a company-established minimum amount, beginning with the application process. Group Insurance policies are an exception.
This investigation and resulting evaluation of the risk is termed underwriting. Health and lifestyle questions are asked. Certain responses or information received may merit further investigation. Life insurance companies in the United States support the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) [4], which is a clearinghouse of information on persons who have applied for life insurance with participating companies in the last seven years. As part of the application, the insurer receives permission to obtain information from the proposed insured's physicians.[5]
Underwriters will determine the purpose of insurance. The most common is to protect the owner's family or financial interests in the event of the insurer's demise. Other purposes include estate planning or, in the case of cash-value contracts, investment for retirement planning. Bank loans or buy-sell provisions of business agreements are another acceptable purpose.
Life insurance companies are never required by law to underwrite or to provide coverage to anyone, with the exception of Civil Rights Act compliance requirements. Insurance companies alone determine insurability, and some people, for their own health or lifestyle reasons, are deemed uninsurable. The policy can be declined (turned down) or rated.[citation needed] Rating increases the premiums to provide for additional risks relative to the particular insured.[citation needed]
Many companies use four general health categories for those evaluated for a life insurance policy. These categories are Preferred Best, Preferred, Standard, and Tobacco.[citation needed] Preferred Best is reserved only for the healthiest individuals in the general population. This means, for instance, that the proposed insured has no adverse medical history, is not under medication for any condition, and his family (immediate and extended) have no history of early cancer, diabetes, or other conditions.[5] Preferred means that the proposed insured is currently under medication for a medical condition and has a family history of particular illnesses.[citation needed] Most people are in the Standard category.[citation needed] Profession, travel, and lifestyle factor into whether the proposed insured will be granted a policy, and which category the insured falls. For example, a person who would otherwise be classified as Preferred Best may be denied a policy if he or she travels to a high risk country.[citation needed] Underwriting practices can vary from insurer to insurer which provide for more competitive offers in certain circumstances.
Life insurance contracts are written on the basis of utmost good faith. That is, the proposer and the insurer both accept that the other is acting in good faith. This means that the proposer can assume the contract offers what it represents without having to fine comb the small print and the insurer assumes the proposer is being honest when providing details to underwriter.[citation needed]

[edit] Death proceeds
Upon the insured's death, the insurer requires acceptable proof of death before it pays the claim. The normal minimum proof required is a death certificate and the insurer's claim form completed, signed (and typically notarized).[citation needed] If the insured's death is suspicious and the policy amount is large, the insurer may investigate the circumstances surrounding the death before deciding whether it has an obligation to pay the claim.
Proceeds from the policy may be paid as a lump sum or as an annuity, which is paid over time in regular recurring payments for either a specified period or for a beneficiary's lifetime.[citation needed]
Types of life insurance
Life insurance may be divided into two basic classes – temporary and permanent or following subclasses - term, universal, whole life and endowment life insurance.
TEMPORARY TERM
Term assurance: provides for life insurance coverage for a specified term of years for a specified premium. The policy does not accumulate cash value. Term is generally considered "pure" insurance, where the premium buys protection in the event of death and nothing else.
The three key factors to be considered in term insurance are: face amount (protection or death benefit), premium to be paid (cost to the insured), and length of coverage (term).
Various insurance companies sell term insurance with many different combinations of these three parameters. The face amount can remain constant or decline. The term can be for one or more years. The premium can remain level or increase. A common type of term is called annual renewable term. It is a one year policy but the insurance company guarantees it will issue a policy of equal or lesser amount without regard to the insurability of the insured and with a premium set for the insured's age at that time. Another common type of term insurance is mortgage insurance, which is usually a level premium, declining face value policy. The face amount is intended to equal the amount of the mortgage on the policy owner’s residence so the mortgage will be paid if the insured dies.
A policy holder insures his life for a specified term. If he dies before that specified term is up, his estate or named beneficiary receives a payout. If he does not die before the term is up, he receives nothing. In the past these policies would almost always exclude suicide. However, after a number of court judgments against the industry, payouts do occur on death by suicide (presumably except for in the unlikely case that it can be shown that the suicide was just to benefit from the policy). Generally, if an insured person commits suicide within the first two policy years, the insurer will return the premiums paid. However, a death benefit will usually be paid if the suicide occurs after the two year period.

[edit] Permanent Life Insurance
Permanent life insurance is life insurance that remains in force (in-line) until the policy matures (pays out), unless the owner fails to pay the premium when due (the policy expires OR policies lapse). The policy cannot be canceled by the insurer for any reason except fraud in the application, and that cancellation must occur within a period of time defined by law (usually two years). Permanent insurance builds a cash value that reduces the amount at risk to the insurance company and thus the insurance expense over time. This means that a policy with a million dollar face value can be relatively expensive to a 70 year old. The owner can access the money in the cash value by withdrawing money, borrowing the cash value, or surrendering the policy and receiving the surrender value.
The four basic types of permanent insurance are whole life, universal life, limited pay and endowment.
Whole life coverage
Whole life insurance provides for a level premium, and a cash value table included in the policy guaranteed by the company. The primary advantages of whole life are guaranteed death benefits, guaranteed cash values, fixed and known annual premiums, and mortality and expense charges will not reduce the cash value shown in the policy. The primary disadvantages of whole life are premium inflexibility, and the internal rate of return in the policy may not be competitive with other savings alternatives. Riders are available that can allow one to increase the death benefit by paying additional premium. The death benefit can also be increased through the use of policy dividends. Dividends cannot be guaranteed and may be higher or lower than historical rates over time. Premiums are much higher than term insurance in the short-term, but cumulative premiums are roughly equal if policies are kept in force until average life expectancy.
Cash value can be accessed at any time through policy "loans". Since these loans decrease the death benefit if not paid back, payback is optional. Cash values are not paid to the beneficiary upon the death of the insured; the beneficiary receives the death benefit only. If the dividend option: Paid up additions is elected, dividend cash values will purchase additional death benefit which will increase the death benefit of the policy to the named beneficiary.

TATA MOTORS

Indian manufacturers Tata Motors have quite the history under their belt, starting with the company's foundation in 1945 as a locomotive producer. Tata Motors is just one part of the business group Tata, formerly known as TELCO (Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company), which also has several other ventures, including a steel making plant and even a tea producing company.Tata got into the motoring business in 1954 when it starting producing heavy trucks in a joint venture with Daimler-Benz AG. So, in 1960. the first truck rolled out of the factory's door in Pune, India, a copy of a German Daimler truck. Tata starting exporting heavy-duty trucks but for the local market, they had to come up with lighter versions because of the infrastructure of the country. The first LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) model, the Tata 407, began production in 1986.At the beginning of the 90s, the company sought to evolve and expand into the car market, and it began a collaboration with Cummins Engine Company to produce more efficient diesel engines. Their first car was the Tata Indica, a model that enjoyed an unexpected success both in India and on other European markets, despite the fact that car-analysts gave it bad reviews. The Indica won people over with it's low fuel consumption and powerful engine. It was so successful that Rover began selling it in the UK under the name of CityRover. The second generation of Indica, the V2, was even more successful.Indica's major success gave Tata Motors the financial power to take over Daewoo Motors in 2004, in a effort to take their brand more international exposure. Other surprising acquisitions by the Tata Group include Jaguar and Land Rover as of March 26th, 2008 for a net 2 billion US dollars. Lately, Tata has made known its aggressiveness when it comes to gaining exposure and acquiring new brands. 2008 - Nano Tata Motors' financial power comes from the fact that its labor costs amount to only 9% of the profit, a reason for which many other car producers, including Volvo decided to move operations to India. Another important factor in Tata's success is the fact that the group holds several machine tools and metal producing plants, further reducing production costs.Apart from this, Tata does not lack the innovative spirit, bringing to the world the compressed air car (OneCAT) and the the cheapest model ever produced, introduced at the 2008 Geneva auto show, the Tata Nano, a car which will set you back some $2.500. Also, Tata has expressed their wish to come up with a car made 100% out of plastic, in an effort to fight rising costs for metal production. It seems that Tata Motors has the recipe for success and only time will tell where this car manufacturer will head next.
window.google_render_ad();

Tata Nano Europa on Display at GenevaTata

Motors Limited is India’s largest automobile company, with revenues of Rs. 35651.48 crores (USD 8.8 billion) in 2007-08. It is the leader in commercial vehicles in each segment, and among the top three in passenger vehicles with winning products in the compact, midsize car and utility vehicle segments. The company is the world’s fourth largest truck manufacturer, and the world’s second largest bus manufacturer.
The company’s 23,000 employees are guided by the vision to be “best in the manner in which we operate, best in the products we deliver, and best in our value system and ethics.”
Established in 1945, Tata Motors’ presence indeed cuts across the length and breadth of India. Over 4 million Tata vehicles ply on Indian roads, since the first rolled out in 1954. The company’s manufacturing base in India is spread across Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand). Following a strategic alliance with Fiat in 2005, it has set up an industrial joint venture with Fiat Group Automobiles at Ranjangaon (Maharashtra) to produce both Fiat and Tata cars and Fiat powertrains. The company is establishing two new plants at Dharwad (Karnataka) and Sanand (Gujarat). The company’s dealership, sales, services and spare parts network comprises over 3500 touch points; Tata Motors also distributes and markets Fiat branded cars in India.
Tata Motors, the first company from India’s engineering sector to be listed in the New York Stock Exchange (September 2004), has also emerged as an international automobile company. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand and Spain. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, a business comprising the two iconic British brands that was acquired in 2008. In 2004, it acquired the Daewoo Commercial Vehicles Company, South Korea’s second largest truck maker. The rechristened Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles Company has launched several new products in the Korean market, while also exporting these products to several international markets. Today two-thirds of heavy commercial vehicle exports out of South Korea are from Tata Daewoo. In 2005, Tata Motors acquired a 21% stake in Hispano Carrocera, a reputed Spanish bus and coach manufacturer, with an option to acquire the remaining stake as well. Hispano’s presence is being expanded in other markets. In 2006, it formed a joint venture with the Brazil-based Marcopolo, a global leader in body-building for buses and coaches to manufacture fully-built buses and coaches for India and select international markets. In 2006, Tata Motors entered into joint venture with Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant Company of Thailand to manufacture and market the company’s pickup vehicles in Thailand. The new plant of Tata Motors (Thailand) has begun production of the Xenon pickup truck, with the Xenon having been launched in Thailand at the Bangkok Motor Show 2008.
Tata Motors is also expanding its international footprint, established through exports since 1961. The company’s commercial and passenger vehicles are already being marketed in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, South Asia and South America. It has franchisee/joint venture assembly operations in Kenya, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Russia and Senegal.
The foundation of the company’s growth over the last 50 years is a deep understanding of economic stimuli and customer needs, and the ability to translate them into customer-desired offerings through leading edge R&D. With over 2,500 engineers and scientists, the company’s Engineering Research Centre, established in 1966, has enabled pioneering technologies and products. The company today has R&D centres in Pune, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, in India, and in South Korea, Spain, and the UK. It was Tata Motors, which developed the first indigenously developed Light Commercial Vehicle, India’s first Sports Utility Vehicle and, in 1998, the Tata Indica, India’s first fully indigenous passenger car. Within two years of launch, Tata Indica became India’s largest selling car in its segment. In 2005, Tata Motors created a new segment by launching the Tata Ace, India’s first indigenously developed mini-truck
In January 2008, Tata Motors unveiled its People’s Car, the Tata Nano, which India and the world have been looking forward to. A development, which signifies a first for the global automobile industry, the Nano brings the comfort and safety of a car within the reach of thousands of families. When launched in India later in 2008, the car will be available in both standard and deluxe versions. The standard version has been priced at Rs.100,000 (excluding Indian automaker Tata Motors has just introduced the Nano Europa at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. Basically, the new Tata Nano model is especially addressed to the European
window.google_render_ad();
market but the car manufacturer hasn't released any specific detail regarding the official launch of the model in this side of the market. In short terms, the Tata Nano Europa features a slightly longer wheelbase of 2.28 meters plus minor interior modifications. The car is still powered by a 3-cylinder all-aluminum MPFI engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission said to provide CO2 emissions of less than 100 g/km.The European version also complies with all safety requirements, including mandatory equipment such as ABS and airbags. In addition, Tata Nano Europa boasts ESP and crumple zones to absorb impacts and protect the passengers.“In India, the Nano will be launched on March 23, and the cars will be on display at company dealerships from the first week of April. The Nano has also generated wide interest in developed countries, since its unveiling in Delhi and its presentation here last year. We are delighted to present the Nano Europa for future launch in such markets," Ratan N. Tata, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, said.Besides the aforementioned Nano Europa, Tata Motors also rolled out the Prima, a luxury sedan concept designed by Pininfarina, and the Indica Vista EV, an electric model delivering an autonomy of up to 200 km. Other highlights of the electric Indica Vista include 0 - 60 km/h sprint in less than 10 seconds and super polymer lithium-ion battery."The Indica Vista EV represents the work of Tata Motors on alternate technologies, while the Prima is an iteration of a luxury sedan we will introduce. They together signify the ongoing evolution in our cars," Ratan N. Tata concludedVAT and transportation cost).
Designed with a family in mind, it has a roomy passenger compartment with generous leg space and head room. It can comfortably seat four persons. Its mono-volume design will set a new benchmark among small cars. Its safety performance exceeds regulatory requirements in India. Its tailpipe emission performance too exceeds regulatory requirements. In terms of overall pollutants, it has a lower pollution level than two-wheelers being manufactured in India today. The lean design strategy has helped minimise weight, which helps maximise performance per unit of energy consumed and delivers high fuel efficiency. The high fuel efficiency also ensures that the car has low carbon dioxide emissions, thereby providing the twin benefits of an affordable transportation solution with a low carbon footprint.
The years to come will see the introduction of several other innovative vehicles, all rooted in emerging customer needs. Besides product development, R&D is also focussing on environment-friendly technologies in emissions and alternative fuels.
Through its subsidiaries, the company is engaged in engineering and automotive solutions, construction equipment manufacturing, automotive vehicle components manufacturing and supply chain activities, machine tools and factory automation solutions, high-precision tooling and plastic and electronic components for automotive and computer applications, and automotive retailing and service operations.
True to the tradition of the Tata Group, Tata Motors is committed in letter and spirit to Corporate Social Responsibility. It is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, and is engaged in community and social initiatives on labour and environment standards in compliance with the principles of the Global Compact. In accordance with this, it plays an active role in community development, serving rural communities adjacent to its manufacturing locations. With the foundation of its rich heritage, Tata Motors today is etching a refulgent future.

Bajaj Pulsar

Clever, stylish, impressive and probably the most awaited bike for all those bike enthusiasts, the Bajaj Pulsar 220. The range of waiting started long back and had waited the people a long time, grabbing all those excitement and expectations and was launched one fine day, the day for the end of all those excitement, the day of judgment.
Power, Engine, Transmission and Mileage The Pulsar is a 4-stroke SOHC, 220cc DTS FI that is Digital Twin Spark Fuel Injection, oh and of course its electric start, but no kick start. Weird ain't it, we asked the guy in charge "whats happens if it stops and the electric start ain't working?" the answer i got was "push" you're on your own!! mostly there wont be any problems like that. Coming back to the bike. The engine produces a mind-blowing 20bhp and the maximum torque of 1.95kgm at 6500Rpm. Its technically India's most advanced bike. The transmission is a 6 speed - one down and rest up. This bike gets up to a top speed of about 130Kmph. This Pulsar can fly to 60kph in 4.4sec and keep on at 110kph in only 18.7sec. Oil cooler and Bajaj's exhausTEC advances in the 220cc. Its an animal i say!!Styling and FeaturesStyle is the word overall - The Bajaj 220cc is almost identical to the younger 200cc and the only major difference in looks is only the front faring that emerges out. I personally think that the Pulsar series has been aging really fast till now, and this model's might seem to go on and on, though the 200cc is more clean and shaped, these two words jump out of the 220cc because of the front fairing as it looks sticked with the help of fevicol. This is only from the side views, from the front its amazing though. If compared to the Karizma's styling, its far apart. Overall the looks are unbeliveable, impressive and amazing. The P220 has a great list than the competition(Karizma). Starting off with split seats, currently India's only one with it, along with the P200. The mirrors can be folded for fun and the digital display which includes fuel availability, speedometer, and all those necessary stuff but tachometer and LED tail lamp to add that sharp styling and safety of course. The silencer adds the shining finish and some people finds it disturbing. Who looks at all these when having fun?? the huge front fairing is not for nothing, but gives those huge headlights a home to give all those bright light and is said to be the best lights on any Indian bike. LEDs are used for the instruments, and also offer a mini compartment that can be released with a cable in the side.Performance, Handling and MileageThe Pulsar sounds great right from turning the key till riding in 130Kmph. The P220 handling is said to be quite good and thinks that it fells a tad better handled than the Karizma. That smooth riding quality comes within the refined engine and the mileage that they claimed is 50 and the rest comes within you and upto you whether you want a decent mileage by following the rules or a life full of fun by ripping them off and breaking the rules of getting better mileage, and should expect about 35-40kmpl, and a tank of 15L. The one down and rest up gets confusing in the beginning, but will catch up later though. The bike is surely fun to drive and will give the value for the money that compared to the Karizma.Overall:A total Fun Factor if you see, a great steal, great handling with a powerful engine and that awesome styling, and its Bajaj, who wouldn't want to buy one?? Two kinds of people buy this, people who have money and want some bike that will meet their factors, and the other who are soo crazy about it that they arrange the money and go for this beauty, if you cant reach it this high, the P200 is also a good buy.. go for one.

Bajaj of India intends to take on the Indonesian motorbike market.
Bajaj Auto Ltd, India’s second-largest motorcycle maker, yesterday introduced its flagship model, the high end Pulsar, into the $6 billion Indonesian motorbike market, and plans to spend around $50 million to set up factory and distribution facilities shortly. [1]
Bajaj Executive Director Sanjiv Bajaj said:
In the first phase, we will focus on customer satisfaction. The second phase would be to set up a local manufacturing facility and the third phase is to make Indonesia the hub for the Southeast Asian market.
First this, the Bajaj three wheeler.
The Bajaj brand is well known, almost infamous, in Indonesia due to the presence of thousands of the company’s three wheeler motorised rickshaws that noisily ply the streets of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. But Bajaj is now focusing on the upper end of the motorbike market. Says Sanjiv: [2]
These will be high-end bikes, in the range of Pulsar and higher engine capacities.
Now this, the 180cc Bajaj Pulsar.
K S Grihapathy, head of PT Bajaj Auto Indonesia, said the company initially aimed to sell 100,000 motorbikes in Indonesia in two years. The company was formed as a joint venture with financial consultancy group Boentaro, which holds five per cent.
Not yet sighted, Bajaj Goods Carrier.
It is intended that the Bajaj bikes produced in Indonesia will be completely knocked down kits (CKD’s) in the beginning with just the assembly being done locally. My friend Bhupesh has been a friend of this band from what I know, but I have never listened to them back then. It’s only when one day my gf told me that I should at least listen to what she likes that I tuned in to their song, and I didn’t find it too bad. They were kinda good. In person as well I have met some of the band members in one of my friends party but haven’t spoken to them quite closely, but they behave like gentlemen and were friendly in behavior too. So now that I have listened to them and met some of them as well, I can tell they are one awesome rock band and cool people to meet. Here is what I know about the band members:Nowadays many band members are coming with new energy and excitements from different parts of the country. The Shadows is also the one who came out from Narayangadh, Chitwan, Nepal in the year 1996. It has been nearly 11 years that they have established their band. This unique band has altogether five band members and one band manager. The Shadows are:Swapnil Sharma: The main vocalist.Amit Pradhan: Bass guitar.Prakash Rasailey: Lead guitar.Prashant VK: Rhythm guitar.Bikash Manandhar: Drums.Rupesh Sen: The band manager. The album that I have listened of them is Hidne Manchhe Ladchha. Her favorite song is “Prakriti” from the same album. So far I find all of the songs in this album equally cool, heavy metal type songs. Well I hope they will try and keep it on and win people’s heart in years to come.

Prashant Tamang- binding nepali community
Prashant Tamang,24,hails from Darjeeling is one of a proud singer to represent all Nepalese in one of India's Most popular musical TV Show 'Indian Idol'. It was during the midsummer and a guy was with his shirt off in the bus. He had a big tattoo on his back! He had short hair and looked innocent and quiet. I talked to him about the tattoo and some other things on the way. We reached Pokhara and attended the musical function the other day. The boy was somewhere with us as an audience and at that time I think nobody had the slightest clue that he would one day be rocking the crowd himself, toping the countdown charts and becoming one of the
most popular rock singers in the country. Yeah! I’m talking about our very own talented singer Dibya Subba. His debut album ‘Pratha’ was able to garner him enough popularity and establish himself as a rock singer in the industry though there were a few controversies along the way but people simply couldn’t deny the fact that he possessed immense talent. His just recently released album ‘Pariwartaan’ is doing well in the market and his song ‘Timro Mann’ has been topping the charts on different FM stations. A few days back I bumped into him and it was nice to hear him talk about the present situation in the country and his keen interest in politics. It feels good to see the positive change in the youth lately. Let me tell you a funny thing that Dibya told me during our informal talk. Few days back when we had massive fuel shortages, somebody brought him a few liters of Chinese petrol somewhere from Khasa. He was surprised to see the color of pure form of petrol because he had never seen it before. The guy who brought him petrol asked him to mix some kerosene with it before filling his bike because the pure petrol might harm the engine as our engine is only familiar with mixed petrol…ha …ha…. See! Well what do I say? Ok let’s get started with the interview. Here we go!

You've just released the video of your song 'Timro Mann', how has the response been?
I've been getting good response from various FM stations. Probably the song has remained in the top five for a while and the video has been receiving decent frequency. I feel that the response for the song is better than the video… may be it’s because of the load shedding and people haven't been able to watch the video. The situation isn't good right now. People are busy trying to get their share of basic necessities, queuing up for fuel, cooking gas etc. At this moment I just can't only talk about my music. People are going through hard times. I hope the situation will get better!

Yeah! We hope the same. The album 'Pariwartaan' was released almost three months back, what is the reason behind the delay of the video?
Actually, we started the shoot as soon as we released the album. We had some difficulties then. We had to stop the shooting because of numerous problems that kept cropping up and the company was also not able to provide the finances on time. However, its better to be late than never!

Do you believe music video affects the sales of an album?
Well! I don't think it'll improve the sales but yeah! It definitely gives some mileage to the album. It could help in the popularity of the album.
When we talk about sales of an album, the situation of our country also needs to be taken into account.
]Entertainment is a secondary thing. As you know people start getting frustrated as soon as they get up in the morning because of the present situation and chaos in the country. So at this moment and coming back into the question,
I don't think the video would be helping in the sales of the album.

LAUSA is Publishing YAANBHU:

Dear Magar Bandhus and Scholars,Langhali Association USA, Inc. For example, in 1994, Tupac Shakur was a nominee for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for the film Poetic Justice although he had been charged in December 1993 with sexually abusing a woman.[1] In 2004, R. Kelly's Chocolate Factory was nominated for Outstanding Album[2] although he was under indictment at the time for charges related to child pornography.[3]
Other nominees have faced controversy due to their portrayals of major civil rights figures. In 2003, the movie Barbershop received five nominations including Outstanding Motion Picture and Cedric the Entertainer as Outstanding Supporting Actor. The film had been criticized because Cedric's character in the film makes unflattering remarks about Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Jesse Jackson.[4] The rap group OutKast received six nominations in 2004 but faced criticism because they had previously recorded a song titled "Rosa Parks" which had resulted in them being sued by Parks over the use of her name.[3]

[edit] Award categories

[edit] Motion picture
Outstanding Motion Picture
Outstanding Documentary
Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture
Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a
Cedric the Entertainer
Universal Amphitheatre
2004
March 6
Tracee Ellis Ross/Golden Brooks/Persia White/Jill Marie Jones
Universal Amphitheater
2005
March 25
Chris Tucker
Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
2006
March 3
Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Shrine Auditorium
2007
March 2
LL Cool J
Shrine Auditorium
2008
February 14
D.L. The soundman and arrangers had never listened to our kind music; it was their first time in a metal gig however they still pulled it out right. They are well known for their mind blowing live performance and cool attitude. They are the coolest music makers in the entire music milieu of the underground scene. Vhumi has Bikash Gurung on guitars and vocals, Anil Dhital on bass, Bibek Tamang on Drums and Dipesh Subba on Violin/Keyboard. Ashish Lama used to play Drums for this band before Bibek joined in. Vhumi was here in Pokhara in June 22-23, 2007 to rock the entire lake district. The occasion was PEC (Pokhara Engineering College) Fete, where a 'formal' metal gig was organised for the first time in Pokhara with recognized metal bands from Kathmandu. Vhumi played some of their originals in the event, namely, Variya, Suicide, Tribe, Stone hunter, Live to thrill and Dazzling face.pkrROCKS caught them and had a brief chit-chat with all the members of this versatile band. Excerpts:
pkrROCKS: Vhumi actually means earth/soil. Does this straightforward meaning has anything to do regarding the title of this band? Bikash: We can't ignore the actual meaning of this word, but actually the word 'Vhumi' is taken from Buddhism. Buddhism says that a human's mind consists of 10 parts and the 10th part is VHUMI, or in simple meaning earth/soil.pkrROCKS: So, from which bands/artists do Vhumi draws influences?Anil: Well, all of us have our own influences. I like listening to Yngwie Malmsteem, Sukarma and Rudra. Collectively as a band we like listening Slayer, Dusk, Winds, Ebony Tears etc the most.pkrROCKS: Is this the first time Vhumi has performed beyond the hills of the Kathmandu valley?Anil: Yes, this is the first time we have played outside the valley.Bikash: Once we were invited to perform in an event in Kurintar, but the whole event fucked up and we had to return without even playing a song.pkrROCKS: So how was the expectations before you rocked the show at the FETE? We mean, how did you people feel before performing in this event?Dipesh: We have had no idea about how the local crowd of Pokhara would react to our kind of music as we were playing for the first time in Pokhara. Besides, we have had great time in the highway while heading for Pokhara and had a feeling that lotsa fun is waiting for us ahead.pkrROCKS: Then what special did Vhumi discover after performing in Pokhara?Anil: The crowd of Pokhara is very decent. They just listen to the music and adore the performance. No shitty business at all. In Kathmandu, the crowd throws F words and embarrass the bands if they don't play some used to rocking numbers. The Pokhreli crowd is simply great and they enjoy music to the fullest.pkrROCKS: So is there anything about the event/crowd that Vhumi didn't like of?Bikash: There were no headbangers at all. Maybe they felt a little awkward coming in front of the stage and do little headbanging. However, i feel they really enjoyed the music.Anil: The whole event looked like as if a school's parent's day was being organized with prize distribution, speech, emcees, and teachers disturbing in the middle of nowhere to sing "Tagaro ma Rumal Rakhi" and "Pyari Saali ma Maya basyo" kinda numbers.Bibek: I was so fucked up with that heat. This is the first time i had felt so terrible while playing drums because of the scorching sun.Dipesh: Yes, I had to shift beside Anil while doing the last number to get rid of the scorching sun.pkrROCKS: What future projection is Vhumi is eyeing upon?Bikash: We are working on releasing our first album within a week's time. Anil: Besides we are working on for the video compilation of our original number called "variya".pkrROCKS: What else do you people do beside playing music?
And do the members of Vhumi have any musical side projects?Anil: I have no such side projects. Beside playing music, i listen to music, sway and.....Bikash: Currently, I am working at "Our Studio", arraning music.Bibek: I am currently involved with Deadefy, the Slayer cover band, playing drums.Dipesh: I am also working in a studio.pkrROCKS: Any comments/suggestions to pkrROCKS and the audience of Pokhara?Anil: This is really a good motive that inspires metal listeners and local underground bands to come up with some good music. And if the artist has his own singing style it easily makes him noticed. This applies for Sabin Rai, a very promising singer from Dharan. Just hear his songs, you will simply notice the freshness in them. Sabin has tried out slightly different flavor of western songs and this difference has made the songs stand out. Don't be surprised if you find his voice similar to popular Canadian singer Bryan Adams. At times you may feel Bryan to be singing in Nepali.
